Millions of accidents take place in the world every year. Some of these accidents lead to death and some other lead to temporary or permanent disabilities. Work-related accidents lead to discomfort and many economic losses and make the society undergo irreparable damage. Paying attention to health of human capital and protecting the production process to eliminate and/or reduce work-related accidents is of high importance and it should be admitted that no processes will lead to desirable results without attention to the human force.
Accordingly, preventing work-related accidents and reducing its losses is one of the important and fundamental responsibilities that the safety and fire-fighting unit in Saman Petrochemical Products Company confronts by its experienced staff and using a preventive attitude in the safety sector and controlling different levels and types of emergency conditions. The safety unit implements a set of organizational responsibilities by the participation of all operational and organizational groups to reach its target, that is, “zero accident”.
The HSE Unit has defined the macro and micro objectives regarding safety in line with the company policies and follows its programs in the form of two processes:
Immunizing the activities and operations
Minimizing the risks of potential damaging factors

Daily safety inspections
Site inspections in terms of unsafe actions and conditions and taking the necessary measures
Preparing daily safety reports
Including: reports on the number of permits in each unit, necessary actions and measures to control the conditions, work permits, preparing a list of items that needs explanation and items that need to be put forward in morning sessions and presenting them daily to the head of HSE
Work permit confirmation
Investigation and confirmation of dangerous cold-work hot-work permits, frontier closed area permit, drilling permits and vehicle entry permits according to the corresponding instructions
Confirmation of scaffolding safety
Investigation of scaffolding method and its compliance with scaffolding regulations
Attending weekly sessions
Attending weekly sessions and following up on HSE-related sections
Preparing monthly HSE inspection reports
Preparing reports on violations of laws and regulations in safety sectors in the related forms and sending them to the head of HSE unit
Collecting near miss reports
Collecting near miss reports by receiving direct reports from the employees and/or HSE connectors and sending them to the head of HSE
Reporting accidents
Preparing reports on accidents after necessary investigations and speaking to the related individuals and sending them to the head of HSE
Identifying the risks and evaluation of the corresponding risks
Identifying the risk and annual evaluation of the operational unit risks according to corresponding procedures and forms
Examining the process corrections and safety comments
Examining the HSE engineering comments sent from units and responding to them according to corresponding forms
Monitoring the ongoing projects
Including safety monitoring in engineering section and the executive operations (the ongoing projects) of the contractors
Holding general and technical courses, employee retraining courses and training the new contractors and recruits and preparing posters, brochures and booklets and distributing them in the complex
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Including setting requests, investigating the received suggestions regarding PPE items including general items such as uniforms, helmets, gloves, safety shoes, etc. and technical items such as safety glasses, masks, anti-chemical gloves, anti-acid uniforms, respiratory masks, etc. and distributing them along with the required training and recording records
Periodic investigations and repairing of fire alarm systems
Updating the rules, regulations and instructions
Emergency conditions
Including the presence of the safety officers in the place, immunizing the area and operations and gas test inspection in case needed and preparing and sending reports to the head of HSE
